Forsaken's EP "Disengage" Reviewed & Up For Free Download

Reviewer: Kallol Bordoloi

Their want of making every song they create different is clearly profound in their EP: Disengage by the experimental outfit Forsaken from Bangalore.

Escalating moods of the soul and brave ambience is what gathers all in four tracks: Disengage, Cant Live In Fear, Built by Sand and Fade Into the Dark.
Four tracks talking about all that life is right now for the generation we belong to. Their seems to be some touch of personal feelings and experiences from the band members to what they have put together .

Now when we talk about the tracks, Disengage starts off with riffs which you relate to easily and start liking their sound in that very instant. vocals suit the music they play and are pretty solid.

Cant Live in Fear is more of an outburst to what is happening around us. I at least gave it a second listen right after I completed the entire set.

Built By Sand , as the name says, relates to music corresponding to the music of the sands with an Arabic feel with the guitar pieces being complimented by the keyboards and Synthesis.

Fade Into The Dark is a standout with bass lines making you groove to it and subtle variations which makes you want to transfer the song to your media player.

The drums on almost all the four tracks is rock solid, thanks to the endless efforts of Owais. The one thing that some might get put off by is the feel to the songs of being recorded years back with a kind of fuzziness to the vocals which I liked though because it brought the feel of Norwegian Black Metal which i do not know if Forsaken is influenced by.

My favourite from them remains L.I.E.S. from Alter Ego though, but a grand salute to the five men:

Akshay - Vocals/Guitar, Owais - Drums, Bharat - Guitar, Nakul - Keyboard/Synthesizers, Sunil - Bass.

Over all Disengage will probably be another stepping stone on this five-member band's way and they will probably come up with more experiments which would take you by surprise in the future.

Disengage is up for free download:
