Japan: Iron Maiden and Slash to cancel shows

With the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan, a slew of musical performances have been canceled throughout the Tokyo area. Blackouts and a crippled transport system have forced acts such as Iron Maiden, Jack Johnson, The National, and Slash to cancel shows.

British heavy metal band Iron Maiden announced on Friday, March 11, that it was canceling its gigs at Tokyo's Saitama Super Arena for Saturday, March 12, and Sunday, March 13.

The band's bassist Steve Harris released a message to all of the band's fans in Japan: "Our deepest sympathies go out to everyone affected by this disaster - our fans in Japan, the people of Japan and those in many other places suffering from the tsunami."
