Lou Reed has spoken to USA Today about his controversial collaboration with Metallica, ‘Lulu’, which was released earlier this week – and he’s in no doubt as to what a lot of Metallica fans make of it.
“Metallica fans are threatening to shoot me, and that’s only because I showed up,” says the legendary songwriter. “They haven’t even heard the record yet, and they’re recommending various forms of torture and death. I don’t have any fans left. After [1975 album] ‘Metal Machine Music’, they all fled. Who cares? I’m essentially in this for the fun of it.”
