AUGHAD debut single 'Destroying The Creator' Review

Dibrugarh based thrash/melodic death metal band, Aughad have released their debut single Destroying The Creator. This 6 piece band speaks about blasphemies of religion. According to the band, they don't aim to bring about a social change with their musics lyrical theme. They aim at silent criticism of the institution of religion.

I was excited about the song since i love listening to bands who bring about some level of experiment in their roots. Being myself from a melodic thrash/death background, i had lot of expectations from Aughad since they play Thrash/Melodic Death Metal with presence of keyboardist Vivek.

As soon as i pressed the PLAY button i was expecting the assault from the very first second but these guys surprised me with an acoustic intro and then comes the sweet guitar portion which had kinda rock'n rollish vibe. Now comes the well executed drum roll and then starts the riff attack with drum layers all over it.

Chorus is very catchy and towards the middle we get to hear some black elements too which i really liked. Vinayak on vocals is good and sounds chaotic. Bass is hardly audible and is mixed pathetically. Guitar parts are good and need the duo need to work more. Although Keyboard solo by Vivek towards the middle section sounded awesome and this guy has got potential to nail some killer solo's in future.

Guitar solo after 4:10 was appreciable but once the solo was done the outro just seemed unnecessary. Considering their experimental genre and versatility since keyboardist in a band can end up giving us some insane beautiful moments, the band sounds good but somewhere i felt they are over trying their versatility. They're good, no doubt, but sometimes the simple, complex arrangements to some extent and structure songs do more than what versatility does!

Important Points:

1. Keyboardist is talented and his skills are appreciable. He has potential to create more melodic stuff.

2. More these guys perform on stage and compose stuff's, more they will understand their sound and will surely help them.

3. Guitar lines and solo's are good and i am expecting some more chaotic riff's from them in future.

4. Being socially aware and eager to write about their beliefs i expected lyrics to be top notch. Well to some extent they have done a descent job and their is room for improvement. Lyrics have the capacity to set the base and if written precisely, the band sounds matured. Work on it more.

5. Drums are good. But the way they r programmed, it ruins the entire environment of the song. I have never come across drums being programmed so badly. The crash sound are all over the place and disrupts other instruments. The place where the recording is done and people who are responsible for the production have screwed up the band's impressive composition. Would recommend these guys to spend some cash and record LIVE drumming at a place where you get what you want.

6. Bass lines while recording/mixing are completely fucked up. I always feel bass guitarist's have passion to show their skills but due to production metrics they don't get the appreciation.

7. Most importantly these guys have capacity to make top notch stuff but one think they need to take care of is to understand how versatility can change the entire sound. They need to get more tighter and are not much versatile and as i said they require some more time to understand their sound.

Aughad have started their journey and i hope these guys will bring about change in Thrash Metal scene in India by infusing melodic layers. I wish them all the best \m/
