Silver Tears' EP "Ensnared" Reviewed

Reviewed by: Kallol Bordoloi

Ensnared, Guwahati based band Silver Tears' new EP consisting of their tracks Dirt Beyond Beauty, Drifter and Euphonious Odyssey from their EP-Dirt Beyond Beauty which were re-recorded after the inclusion of musical and vocal genius, Girish Pradhan of Girish and the Chronicles fame a few months back is a power packed and talent oriented offering to their fans and music lovers.

After the change in their line-up,they got into Lucid Recess Studios,Guwahati and had the vocals re-recorded and their thought of doing that has resulted to the outcome of some of the best songs this year!

With the mixing and mastering done by Siddharth Barooa (Lucid Recess), the tracks have a new leash to them with the vocals impressing you a lot. No doubt about the capabilities, this person Girish Pradhan has, whatsoever! The guitars and keys accentuate with subtle variations and ofcourse have that gradual progressions which surprise you and make you love the track, especially the work by the man on the synths, Raktim Mahanta!

The bass and drums ofcourse are top notch and never let you down even once. The songs make you believe that the time has come when the bands from North-East are on going to rise to international fame, especially the new breed of musicians who are more independent then they ever were! The guitar duo Brittanta and Ishan are marvellous at what they do and the bassist Biswa who compliment what they do and the one who helps give the band that edge over so many other bands with his rudiments,Nawaz, are just as amazing! The vocals, thought, really work wonders on the tracks, with immense captivative power and variations especially on Drifter. The other two sound eqaully awesome.

The new release gives the band a new scope of developing their sound with the recent change in line-up and I would highly recommend fans and music lovers to grab a copy each, especially progressive metal lovers. The artwork for the EP by Saloni Sinha is also impressive. As for a fan which I've just become,I would be looking forward for more from Silver Tears' bag! Till then, best wishes to Silver Tears!
